French drama in which the mistress (Dominique Reymond) of a cruel farmer (Daniel Duval) lives and works with her seven children on her master's rural estate. Although poor, she ensures a happy and supportive atmosphere for her offspring while they harvest vegetables in the summer. After the children's father commands them to plant cabbages on his Cavaillon estate where he lives with his wife, trouble ensues.
