Hyacinth Buckett (pronounced Bouquet) is determind to impress and a social climbing snob. Her long suffering husband Richard tries to stay invisible and deal with Hyacinth and her domineering ways. Her family embarrass her and she is in a constant battle to forget her heritage. Alas this is never going to happen and it always comes back to haunt her, with hilarious consequences.
