Precious archive footage of 'Not Only But Also' capturing the genius of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. The classic Dagenham Dialogues (Pete and Dud in flat capped discussion) and such of-the-wall lunacy as 'The Order Of St Beryl' (the leaping nuns) show their partnership at its best and make this title a comedy collector's dream!
Wendy is a fiery Manhattan author whose husband has just left her for a younger woman; Darwan is a soft-spoken taxi driver from India on the verge of an arranged marriage.
First appearing on our screens in late 1979, Minder was a vehicle for ex-Sweeney sidekick Denis Waterman, but its lasting contribution to TV culture was rehabilitating George Cole, whose lovable but unscrupulous "entrepreneur" (an older version of the spiv he portrayed in the St Trinians films) mockingly reflected the values of 1980s Thatcherite Britain. The series is fondly set in a rough demimonde of small-time gangsters and ageing dolly birds, and against a backdrop of seedy London pubs and dubious business dealings. Waterman plays Terry McCann, ex-boxer and ex-con trying to stick to the straight and narrow, but persuaded against his better judgement to become involved in murky capers set up by his employer, "Arfur", who regularly sublets him to dodgy associates of his. In this, the first series, Arthur Daley is more in control, not quite the figure of fun he would later become. In the opening episode, for instance, as Terry is held hostage by wannabe black militants in a launderette, Arthur is negotiating his "exclusive" story to a tabloid. Though aspects of these episodes are a little creaky and dated--Terrys flares especially--the interplay between the too softhearted hard man Terry and his dapper but slippery boss is both priceless and timeless. This DVD has a scene selection feature and individual episode guides. --David Stubbs
Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer are reunited in Barbershop: A Fresh Cut, directed by Malcolm D. Lee. It's been more than 10 years since our last appointment at Calvin's Barbershop. Calvin (Cube) and his longtime crew, including Eddie (Cedric), are still there, but the shop has undergone some major changes. Most noticeably, the once male-dominated sanctuary is now co-ed. The ladies bring their own flavour, drama and gossip to the shop, challenging the guys at every turn. But despite the good times, big laughs and camaraderie within the shop, the surrounding community has taken a turn for the worse, forcing Calvin and his friends to come together in an effort to not only save the shop, but their neighbourhood. Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders have always been at their best when they perform live on stage together and this argument is fully supported by this performance. Filmed at a packed out Shaftesbury Theatre this is one of the funniest comic performances available on DVD.
Featuring Bill's trademark musical interludes observations and stories of the road Dandelion Mind will be based loosely on the theme of doubt (or will it?) as we follow Bill from his real-life saga of being trapped by the ash cloud to his barely contained rants about celebrity TV creationism and Michael Winner. He demonstrates new instruments both ancient and modern he sings an internet love song a lament about punk heroes Iranian hip-hop and plays a mean folk-bouzouki. Thomas the Doubter gets a new look and Darwin's curious obsessions and the myth of intelligent design are all worked over in Bailey's own surreal style. He revisits the music of his youth with a brand-new French Disco re-working of Gary Numan's hit Cars played in his own inimitable way and maybe some Wurzel-based remixes of classic German techno. Just your normal Bill Bailey gig then.

And yes, there might be just the odd mention of the World Cup. Packed with laughs from start to finish, it's Wunderbar!

The final feature produced, photographed, edited and directed by Russ Meyer is a wicked take on Our Town, co-written by Meyer and Pulitzer Prize winner Roger Ebert (BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS). Russ' latter-day muse Francesca Kitten' Natividad stars along with Uschi Digard, Ann Marie, June Mack, Candy Samples and Russ himself in this unwashed look at Small Town, U.S.A., complete with faith healers, war criminals, bosom buddies, and the loin-girding quest for sexual salvation. Because the original elements for BENEATH THE VALLEY OF THE ULTRA-VIXENS had been stored in less-than-optimal conditions, Severin Films devoted months to the painstaking restoration of its weather-damaged negative before scanning it in 4K and compiling 2+ hours of new and archival footage, all with the blessing and cooperation of The Russ Meyer Trust.

If Eddie Murphy's comic tone turns on a dime, Martin Lawrence can perhaps be described as sauntering around the dime, looking around to see if anyone else has seen it, then picking the dime up, pocketing it, and casually walking off. He lazily indicates his humour, as if it's too much trouble to actually make the joke--and that distance is what makes him funny. At his best, Lawrence describes a kind of comic space and wanders around in it, claiming it for himself the way a dog might mark his territory, suggesting that what you think is funny doesn't matter to him; he just happens to be where the jokes are, and if you aren't laughing, that's your problem. In Blue Streak, Lawrence plays a jewel thief who plants a stolen diamond in the ventilation duct of a building under construction. When he's released from prison a few years later, he discovers that the building is now a Los Angeles police station. His solution: he impersonates a detective. Of course, everyone believes his disguise. Not only that, using his inside knowledge, he solves several crimes and earns the general admiration of the force. It's a standard fish-out-of-water setup and the plot doesn't take any chances with the formula, but Lawrence wears his role like a loose suit and does a little low-key boogie whenever he can, drawing you into the absurdity with a cock of his head and a roll of his eyes. --Bret Fetzer, Amazon.com

Featuring the vocal talents of Bill Murray John Belushi Christopher Guest and the son of original Tazan - Johnny Weissmuller Jr. Jungle Burger is a rare treat: an adult animated feature that is outrageously sexy unashamedly rude and decidedly earthy in dialogue! Inspired by the classic jungle duo Tarzan and Jane (not forgetting Cheeta the chimpanzee) it is an hilarious exercise in role reversal. Tarzan becomes Shame - weak cowardly and sexually inadequate. Jane becomes June - strident sexually demanding and naked most of the time. Cheeta becomes Cheapo a randy primate who delights in fondling June's breasts and swinging on Shame's genitalia. Shame is aghast when June is kidnapped by a gang of giant penises. They take her to their queen Bazonga a bald woman with fourteen breasts. After tangling with a gang of great white hunters a marauding lion and the Molar Men Shame sets off to rescue her. With only his faithful friend Cheapo at his side he heads for the dark heart of the jungle... Bush Country! First time to DVD!
