Amy Adams is a young woman plans to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day, an Irish tradition which occurs every time February 29 rolls around. However she faces a major setback when bad weather threatens to derail her planned trip to Dublin.
As seen on Channel 4 this is a shocking and controversial landmark drama that British TV has been waiting for based on horrific factual events and adapted for the screen by Tony Grisoni (Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas Tideland) from David Peace's series of groundbreaking novels. The Red Riding Trilogy follows compelling stories revolving around the manhunt for the brutal Yorkshire Ripper and the tragic harrowing effects he has on a terrorised community living in fear. After a failed attempt to crack Fleet Street a cynical journalist returns to his homeland of Yorkshire and finds himself assigned to report on the case of a local girl who has gone missing. But after her bizarrely mutilated body is discovered he is thrown into a sleaze infested nightmarish world of corruption. As the killer's identity remains a mystery savage events spiral out of control spanning generations and leading to a shocking climax. Compelling complex gripping and genuinely disturbing The Red Riding Trilogy is a breathtaking neo-noir epic. Spread across three films (1974 1980 and 1983) by three different accomplished directors (Julian Jarrold James Marsh Anand Tucker) it features a cast of some of Britain's finest acting talent including Paddy Considine (Dead Man's Shoes) Sean Bean (Lord Of The Rings) and Rebecca Hall (Frost/Nixon).
The story follows Mirabelle, a disenchanted salesgirl and an aspiring artist who sells gloves and accessories at a department store.

It earned Oscar nods, yet this cinematic look at a genius--that of English cellist Jacqueline du Pré, who enraptured audiences with her bold, emblazoned and wholly unconventional playing style, and who died at age 42--was criticised for its "lapses" in truth by people who purportedly knew du Pré. Some of the controversy revolved around the other main character in Anand Tuckers gorgeous, involving movie--du Prés sister, Hilary, whose book,A Genius in the Family (cowritten with brother Piers), dished some dirt on Jackies sleeping with Hilarys husband. But dont let that deter you from this ebullient movie experience. Hilary and Jackie is a bisected story (each sisters tale is told in the same amount of screen time) teeming with heartfelt drama that belies the cheap shots it received from its detractors. Its stirring, reckless, loving, involving, and rife with unconventional passion; passion for music, life, art, and the delicate relationship between these two synchronous, extraordinary sisters as played by brilliant actors Emily Watson and Rachel Griffiths (both of whom earned Oscar nods). Though Watson got the juicy, showy role as Jackie, its Griffiths who provides the heart, soul, and spine of the film. And director Tucker has that gift of being able to explain through the visual medium what is happening inside of his characters heads. Hes helped by a fine screenplay by Frank Boyce Cottrell. No matter what the truth of Hilary and Jackie might really be, this is an exceptional, rare film that is defined and graced by fine acting and writing. --Paula Nechak

Filmed over four tumultuous years in India Pakistan Japan and the USA following nuclear tests in the Indian sub-continent and framed by the murder of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948 an act whose portent and poignancy remains undiminished half a century later War and Peace is a documentary journey of peace activism in the face of global militarism and war. The film examines the sub-continent s trajectory towards unabashed militarism and the costs being extracted from citizens in the name of national security. From the plight of residents living near the nuclear test site to the horrendous effects of uranium mining on local indigenous populations it becomes abundantly clear that contrary to a myth first created by the United States there is no such thing as the 'peaceful Atom'. Patwrdhan's documentary has become more potent and relevant than ever as we enter a 21st century where war has become perennial enemies are re-invented and economies inextricably tied to the production and sale of weapons. In the moral wastelands of the world memories of Gandhi seem like a mirage that never was created by a suposed 'thirst for peace' and our leaders very distance from it.
