B.R. Chopra's Karm based on the novel 'Pao Nai Parichay' is the story of conflict between man's actions and his destiny. Arvind (Rajesh Khanna) is the son of a judge while Asha (Vidya Sinha) is the daughter of a learned astrologer. They are in love and decide to marry but Asha's father opposes the same as he predicts Arvind's death on the eve of marriage if he enters marital union with Asha. The lovers decide to defy society and cheat the effect of the prediction by living together out of wedlock. In time however Arvind and Asha realise that they cannot pattern an existence independent of social laws Arvind's developing career in law is thwarted by this illegal act. Asha now pregnant decides to leave Arvind for the sake of his career. A forlorn Arvind marries Neelam (Shabana Azmi). Asha gives birth to a baby boy. Her love continues to haunt Arvind in his dreams. A twist of fate causes Arvind and his son's paths to cross without each knowing the other but they develop an unconscious bond. Will he recognise and accept his son? What about his beloved Asha and his wife Neelam? How will this story end? R.D.Burman composed the music of Karm lyrics were written by renowned poets Rajkavi Tulsi and Bharat Vyas.
All law is based on human evidence and since human beings are what they are, their evidence cannot be infallible. Is it therefore justifiable to take the life of one man on the evidence of another? When young lawyer accidentally witnesses his prospective father-in-law, a respected judge, murdering a moneylender. A burglar who stumbles across the body is then arrested for the murder and is put on trial before the judge's court, leaving the lawyer with a moral dilemma. Thus giving rise to more burden on the story and a series of events to unfold the future.

Does the happy Patni ever find out and what happens to pretty little Woh? Pati Patni Aur Woh is B.R. Chopra's only comedy coming at the tail end of directorial career in 1978. Sanjeev Kumar and Vidya Sinha were so captivated by the plot that they worked on a continuous thirty day schedule in which the film was completed. Not only did it become one of thespian Sanjeev Kumar's most unforgettably comic performances it won Kamleshwar the Filmfare award for Best Screenplay and has the entertaining song Thande Thande Pani which became one of Ravindra Jain's biggest hits.

Afsana is the story of how fate can separate two people and yet reunite them against all odds if it is so destined. Afsana is the story of Ratan (Ashok Kumar) Chaman (Ashok Kumar) and Meera (Veena). Though Ratan and Chaman were twins Meera was the childhood sweetheart of Ratan. An ugly twist of fate separates Ratan from his sweetheart when they go to the fair. So heartbroken was she that she vows never to play again. While Chaman starts his own theatre company Ratan who loses his memory and is raised at an orphanage grows up to become a respected Judge Ashok. Meera continues to shun Chaman's overtures while she hopes that some day her Ratan shall return. Ratan however has no recollection of Meera or his past.
