Poldark is the beloved BBC miniseries set against the stormy sociopolitical backdrop of 18th-century England. Ross returns home from the army to find that George Warleggan has dispossesed his aunt and taken over her land. Warleggan is also expecting Elizabeth to give birth to his son. Ross also goes in search of his friend Doctor Dwight Enys who is missing in action in France. With the bloody French Revolution raging Ross returns home from the army with Doctor Enys and Hugh Armitage. Armitage makes overtures to Demelza while Elizabeth's cousin languishes in an unhappy arranged marriage to Reverend Osbourne.
