Pope Francis - A Man of His Word, written and directed by three-time Academy Award nominee Wim Wenders, is intended to be a personal journey with Pope Francis, rather than a biographical documentary about him. A rare co-production with the Vatican, the pope's ideas and his message are central to this documentary, which sets out to present his work of reform and his answers to today's global questions from death, social justice, immigration, ecology, wealth inequality, materialism, and the role of the family.
Elijah Kane falls back onto his special forces past, re-emerging from the ashes of his destroyed SIU to once again work for the government.Aware of his skill as a long-range sniper, Kane is recruited by Marcus Mitchell of the CIA to come back as an operative. In return, Marcus promises that the CIA will provide information to Kane about who put out the hit on his SIU team. Kane is given a long-term 'off-the-grid' mission to take out a high level target that the CIA cannot go after in the 'traditional' way. Marcus feeds Kane intel that leads him into the target's 'circle' with a goal of getting Kane close enough to take a kill shot from a distance. Only then will the identity of the target be revealed to the team.
You might think that Michael Palin has visited pretty much every nook and cranny of the globe by now, but not so: he's managed to find a few previously unexplored hectares in Himalaya, his latest jaunt for the BBC. Here the format, established originally in his Phileas Fogg-inspired Around the World in 80 Days, remains unchanged: always affable, seemingly unflappable, Palin journeys through the various countries along the world's greatest mountain range, getting friendly with everyone he meets and offering gently witty, gently affectionate observations on the customs and cultures he encounters. From the Khyber Pass through dangerous territory along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, via Nepal then up into Tibet to Everest and down into China, and finally to Bangladesh, Palin is, as ever, unfazed by whatever the world has to throw at him, be it chaotic bull-racing in Peshawar, the threat of kidnap by Maoist rebels in Nepal, Tibetan Yak herding, or rafting down the Yangtze. Even if both the once indefatigable traveller and the programme format itself seem a little tired at times (in Palin's case probably a side-effect of the high altitudes), the trek still provides manna from heaven for armchair travellers. On the DVD: There are two hour-long episodes on each disc, accompanied by a series of extended scenes which are accessed separately. Palin provides a brief introduction, filmed before he began his journey. --Mark Walker
In 1993 Anselm Kiefer left Buchen Germany for La Ribaute a derelict silk factory near Barjac. From 2000 he began constructing a series of elaborate installations there. Like a strange sprawling village La Ribaute extends over 35 hectares and is composed of old industrial buildings and working studios that link to a network of underground tunnels dug out by Kiefer which run underneath pavilions built to house paintings and installations. An underground pool at the cul-de-sac of a tubular iron tunnel is embedded within a crypt which backs onto to a 20 m tiered concrete amphitheatre. There are caves and woods an open landscape of concrete towers - assembled like so many card houses - and secluded private spaces. Traversing this landscape the film immerses the audience in the total world and creative process of one of today's most significant and inventive artists. Shot in cinemascope the film constructs visual set pieces alongside observational footage to capture both the dramatic resonance of Kiefer's art and the intimate process of creation. This polarity - in terms of scale sensibility and time - animates the film creating a multi-layered narrative through which to navigate the complex spaces of La Ribaute. Here creation and destruction are interdependent; the film enters into direct contact with the raw materials Kiefer employs to build his paintings and sculptures - lead concrete ash acid earth glass and gold. Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow gives privileged access to Kiefer's last days at La Ribotte.

Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt (Party Of Five I Know What You Did Last Summer) as Audrey Hepburn and featuring Frances Fisher (Titanic) as her mother this miniseries reveals the dramatic life lead by this most appealing of performers - her childhood in Holland during the Nazi occupation her meteoric rise to stardom on Broadway and in films her doomed love affair with William Holden her troubled marriage to Mel Ferrer and her life long search for her father a collaborator during the War. Concealed behind the dazzling smile of Audrey Hepburn was a woman who had known great difficulties and overcame them to become the top international film star in the world an Academy Award winning actress and a fashion designer's dream. Her every change of hair-style was copied by young women all over the world. Featured in the series are her teenage years during the war in which deprivation and hunger forged her determination to survive and her work with the Resistance almost cost her life. After the war she and her mother fled to London where Audrey supported them dancing in revues until she was spotted by the famous French author Collette who personally chose her to play Gigi on Broadway in which she became an overnight sensation. She then went on to star in such films as Roman Holiday with Gregory Peck (for which she won an Academy Award) Sabrina with Humphrey Bogart and William Holden who would become her lover Funny Face with Fred Astaire and perhaps her crowning role Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's where she clashed with its author Truman Capote. Her affair with the womanizing star William Holden was threatening to her new success but he was perhaps the great love of her life and their break up drove her into the arms of Mel Ferrer who was to become her first husband. As his own career was on the wane Audrey's was spiraling ever upward and Ferrer devoted himself to being her protector and sometimes jailer. He did fulfil her long dream of having a child but the marriage eventually terminated. Her role as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's best described Audrey's own life; a lost beauty looking for love in the arms of the protector/father she never had known.
