Romantic comedy based loosely on the classic fairy tale. Lucy Hale stars as Katie Gibbs, a talented young singer who suffers mistreatment at the hands of her conniving stepmother, headmistress Gail Van Ravensway (Missi Pyle), and stepsister, Beverly (Megan Park). When Luke (Freddie Stroma), the son of a record label owner, enrolls at her school, Gail, hoping to get her daughter a recording contract, forces Katie to pretend her singing voice is actually her stepsister's. Believing Beverly to have a great talent, Luke begins to fall for her, much to the disappointment of Katie who has already developed a crush on him.
