Double bill of the hit disaster-in-the-air spoofs from the successful team of Zucker, Zucker and Abrahams. In 'Airplane!' (1980) former fighter pilot Ted Striker (Robert Hays) hasn't flown since the war, when an error of judgement on his part led to the decimation of his squadron. Now he has a drink problem (he keeps missing his mouth) and his girlfriend - air hostess Elaine Dickinson (Julie Hagerty) - has walked out on him. Desperate to get her back, Ted follows her onto her next flight... which goes horribly wrong when the entire cabin crew succumb to food poisoning mid-air! Aided by Elaine, the unflappable Doctor Rumack (Leslie Nielsen), and his former nemesis Rex Kramer (Robert Stack) back at air control, Ted makes a valiant effort to fly the plane to safety. But has he still got what it takes? In the follow-up, 'Airplane 2 - The Sequel' (1982), Ted has been confined to a mental institution after a space shuttle he was test piloting crashed. Ted knows that this was due to a computer error, but no-one will believe him - not even his ex-ex-girlfriend, air hostess Elaine. Determined to prevent the maiden flight of a shuttle identical to the one which crashed, Ted forces his way on board, but his problems are only beginning: Elaine has a slimy new beau, Simon (Chad Everett); a lunatic bomber (Sonny Bono) is determined to blow up everyone and everything on board; and the flight crew have run out of coffee...
