The great Cuban ballerina Alicia Alonso was one of the major 20th-century figures of both classical and contemporary dance in North and South America Europe and her native country. This compilation of performances dating from 1958 to 1985 includes extracts from many of her most celebrated roles often in her own choreography that she nevertheless based on original sources. They range from classics such as Giselle Swan Lake Don Quixote and Coppelia to unusual works such as Oedipus Rex (music by Leo Brouwer) and Pas de Quatre. If only one word could be used to describe her artistry it would be complete. [show more]
