Dark family comedy set in the former Soviet Union. Hamro (Maruf Pulodzoda) is a lowlife good-for-nothing living a selfish and squalid life in Moscow, having recently been released from jail. When he hears that his elderly mother, Halima (Uktamoi Miyasarova) is dying, he returns to his hometown of Asht in Tajikstan to be with her. But he is far from welcomed by the townspeople, who remember his irresponsible, self-serving ways from the past - not to mention the substantial financial debts he owes many of them.
An old legend tells the story of two angels sitting on the shoulders of man, one to total the good deeds and one to total the bad... When a released prisoner returns to his hometown, he finds a sick mother and a debt he can not clear. Tajik dialogue with English subtitles.
