Neil Jordan's directorial debut stars Stephen Rea as Danny, a talented saxophone player in an Irish rock band. After witnessing the double sectarian murder of his manager and an innocent mute girl, Danny's anger builds, eventually leading him to seek revenge. He swaps his saxophone for a machine gun and sets off in search of the killers; but his quest begins to obsess him, affecting both his music and his relationship with those he loves.
