For "Ano Una", director Jonas Cuaron began taking photographs throughout one year, spontaneous images of people in their everyday lives, with neither posing nor staging. Now, he delivers his series of stills in a stunning feature film project.

The unusual love story between Mexican teenager Diego (Diego Catano) and 21-year-old American woman Molly (Eireann Harper) is told in an even more unusual medium as photographer/director Jonas Cuaron runs a voiceover script over a series of still photographs taken of people he knew over a couple of years in Mexico. Half in black and white and half in colour, the photographs tell the tender and often funny story of the tentative relationship that develops between the 'gringa' language student and the sex-obsessed fourteen-year-old whose home she lodges in.
