Western following Captain Jeff Stanton (Audie Murphy) as he finds his conscience conflicting with his duty to the military. When Stanton is sent to bring in a tribe of Apache Indians, he approaches the situation carefully and tactfully. However, the locals are only concerned with getting rid of the Indians so they can be free to mine on the land. This forces Stanton to make a difficult decision between obligations and morals.
