At the end of the Sung Dynasty a small village bordering the Shaolin Temple is threatened by a band of Jin invaders. Two Shaolin monks Zhi Xing and his master Zhao Xiang return from a daily duty to witness a Jin raid on the local village. Zhi defends the helpless townspeople with his martial arts but he makes the mistake of letting the Jins' leader escape. When the two return to the temple Zhi and his master endure further punishment for breaking the rule of using martial arts. Eventually the Jins return to the temple to seek revenge...
