Art Blakey and his band The Jazz Messengers helped redefine jazz offering a harder version of be-bop that is much imitated but never bettered. Sadly Blakey passed away in 1990 but his legacy is so timeless that the music sounds as fresh as ever. This live concert recording was shot in 1982 at the Vanguard club in New York.
