Action thriller starring Salma Hayek and Penélope Cruz as a pair of outlaws seeking revenge against a ruthless local enforcer. It is 1848 and a New York bank seeks to make a huge profit by building a railway across Mexico. The bank's enforcer, Tyler Jackson (Dwight Yoakam), aims to quell the resistance of locals who may not enjoy having their land stolen to make way for the railroad. When Tyler is implicated in the murder of local men, including the fathers of close friends Sara (Hayek) and Maria (Cruz), the two women become bandits. With the aid of a former bank robber, Bill Buck (Sam Shepard), and a criminologist, Quentin Cooke (Steve Zahn), they attempt to strike back at Jackson and drive him and his murderous henchmen away.
