A & E's A Barry Manilow Christmas Live By Request (December 2003) was Barry's first ever Christmas-themed television special. This show was broadcast LIVE from New York City on a festively set stage whilst it snowed for real outside. Barry is accompanied throughout by a beautifully orchestrated big-band for this LIVE phone-in request show which begins with a medley of 'Happy Holidays/White Christmas/Happy Holidays ' followed by the evergreen 'My Favorite Things' from The Sound of Music. Call-in requests ensue the first being for 'Jingle Bells ' including a request... from Eric McCormack of Will & Grace fame for 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.' The legendary Jose Feliciano guests performing 'Feliz Navidad' followed by a duet on 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer'. Cyndi Lauper is up next performing 'At Last' and then duets with Barry on 'Santa Claus is Comin' to Town'. Later in the show Barry speaks with an Army Sergeant who is stationed overseas and hooks his call in to his wife at home whilst performing 'I'll Be Home For Christmas'. The show finishes with Barry and the audience singing along to 'Deck the Halls' and 'Jingle Bell Rock' and finally a track from his first ever Christmas album 'Because It's Christmas (For All the Children)'.
