Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Nate Parker star in this American romantic drama written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Mbatha-Raw stars as Noni Jean, an up-and-coming young pop artist whose success has preceded the release of her first album. Struggling with the pressures of fame, Noni decides to take her own life. However, before she commits suicide she is talked round by Kaz Nicol (Parker), an ambitious young police officer. Then, against the protestations of those around them, Noni and Kaz begin a romantic relationship - one that provides Noni with the freedom and courage to become the artist she hoped she'd be.
