Fleeing from a horrifically traumatic event Patty Vare (Winona Ryder) is on the run but is suddenly thrown from her horse and loses consciousness. When prep school rebel John Baker (Lukas Haas) discovers her he decides to help the beautiful and mysterious girl by hiding her in his dorm. A coming-of-age film adapted from a short story by James Salter. A beautiful woman, Patty Vare (Winona Ryder) falls from her horse and is discovered by a high-school geek, John Baker Jnr (Lukas Haas). Baker determines to hide the attractive older woman in school and, when it transpires that she is on the run from unknown assailants, finds himself falling in love with her whilst helping her outwit her pursuers.
