Chinese wuxia action directed by Lu Yang and set in imperial China, circa 1627. When the emperor dies and his younger brother succeeds him, the new emperor quickly sets about consolidating his decision-making power and, in particular, removing a sect of court eunuchs led by the infamous Wei (Shih-Chieh Chin) whose power had grown unparalleled during the previous emperor's reign. Assigned with the important task of tracking down Wei and his supporters and bringing them to justice are three seemingly ordinary men, members of the imperial secret police. But as their mission develops and their personal motivations come to the fore, a complex web of loyalty and intrigue emerges and suddenly their quest for justice doesn't seem so straightforward.
