Jonathan Zarantonello directs this thriller in which the life of an elderly lady with an enthusiasm for collecting butterflies takes a disturbing turn. When Ann (Barbara Steele), a lonely woman haunted by her estrangement from her daughter Dorothy (Heather Langenkamp), meets Alice (Julia Putnam), a young girl who seems in need of help, her maternal instincts take over. She becomes extremely attached to Alice and is, therefore, devastated when she realises that the girl has simply been manipulating her. As Ann becomes increasingly unhinged, Dorothy recognises the danger she poses - but can she convince others that her apparently mild-mannered mother has a dark secret?
