1950s Western starring Randolph Scott as a US cattle rancher who sets out for Canada in the hope of finding a better life. When Jim Redfern (Scott) and his associates Mike Evans (Bill Williams) and Ling (Lee Tung Foo) join the Cariboo Trail en route to British Columbia they know they are in for an adventure. Redfern hopes the journey will end with the purchase of a Canadian cattle ranch but along the way they are sidetracked by Frank Walsh (Victor Jory), who insists the men pay a toll to cross a bridge in his territory and takes payment by force when they refuse. Evans is injured in the ensuing struggle and blames Redfern for his misfortune, but there may be better luck on the horizon for the cattle rancher in the form of Grizzly (George 'Gabby' Hayes), who teaches him how to prospect for gold...
