Drama set in the volcanic Cape Verde Islands, from writer/director Pedro Costa. Nurse Mariana (Ines de Medeiros) is unhappy with her current life in Lisbon and so agrees to take Leao (Isaach De Bankole), an injured immigrant worker, back to his home in Cape Verde. While there, Mariana is disturbed by the austere environment and some of the residents, giving her reason to reconsider the life she left behind.
