Calin Peter Netzer directs this award-winning Romanian drama that traces an overbearing mother's attempts to regain control of her son's life following his involvement in a fatal car crash. Holding a privileged position within the country's ruling class, middle-aged architect Cornelia (Luminita Gheorghiu) is used to getting her own way, employing the full range of her manipulative powers to ensure her life runs smoothly. So when she is informed that her adult son Barbu (Bogdan Dumitrache) is responsible for the death of a 14-year-old boy in a motorway accident, she wastes no time in driving to the local police station where he is being held, intent on using any means necessary, no matter the moral consequences, to gain her son's release.
