This is a landmark in music. For the first time an artist puts his unhappy childhood and frustrations about his parents and society in general when growing up into song.John was never afraid to wear his heart on his sleave. The brutal honesty in each of these songs is as important as any album released before or since,by any artist. It just shows John as an ordinary guy who has the same problems as all of us.It is much copied now,but never matched.A MUST BUY.

The story behind the former Beatle's first solo album. With both Lennon and Yoko Ono having undertaken primal scream therapy prior to its recording, the subsequent album dealt head-on with many of Lennon's personal issues. The result was a stark, stripped-down sound, which served to highlight the raw emotion contained in the songs. Contributors include Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and bass player Klaus Voorman.
