It is accepted that show people were the first to use caravans or living vans for their accomodation as they travelled around the country. Smaller vans were made in the hundreds for workmen to use as temporary accomodation as they worked in the fields on the roads or laying and maintaining the ever expanding railway system. In the twentieth century caravans began to be used for pleasure and sites began to spring up all around the coast and at other popular resorts. Alternatively with a caravan attached to their car holiday makers had the freedom to wander the country... at will moving from place to place.
