In the aftermath of World War Two, British intelligence officer Captain Callum Ferguson (Sturgess) is tasked with ensuring captured German scientist Dieter Koehler (Diehl) uses his expertise to develop advanced jet engine technology for the British cause. Assisted by fellow officer Ringwood (Allen), Ferguson attempts to convince Koehler to work for the British, and in the process, begins to develop a tentative friendship with him.
