The Dazz Band was one of the leading Funk bands of the eighties being formed in the late seventies by Bobby Harris. Harris brought together two of the leading funk bands in Cleveland Bell Telefunk and Mother Braintree. After numerous line up changes the band settled on an eight piece format with the intention of playing Danceable Jazz from which the name The Dazz Band was derived. In 1980 the band signed to the legendary Motown label and released their debut album entitled Invitation To Love. The band however really hit the big time with their second album Keep It... Live and the single Let It Whip which won the band a Grammy Award. The band continued through the eighties releasing six consecutive Top 100 albums. In 1986 the band left Motown and signed with the Geffen label and from there following just one release for the label moved to RCA and eventually splitting up in 1988 before reuniting again in 1995. The Best Of Funk is exactly what it says it is The Best of Funk and there were none finer than The Dazz Band in the eighties. [show more]
