Cold War thriller based on the book by Shamim Sarif, who also directs. In 1950s Moscow, communist Katya (Rebecca Ferguson) covertly spies for the Americans in the midst of the Cold War arms race. Her most important assignment to date involves extracting intelligence from prodigal government star Alexander (Sam Reid), although complications arise when she finds herself falling in love with him. Katya is forced to reconcile her love for Alexander with her beliefs about communism, leading her to make the greatest possible sacrifice - her life. The story melds 1950s Russia with Alexander's life 30 years on as he uncovers the truth about Katya. The cast also includes Charles Dance, Thure Lindhardt and Antje Traue.
