Biopic of legendary Puerto Rican salsa singer Hector Lavoe. From his arrival in New York in the early 1960s until his death in 1993, Hector Lavoe (Marc Anthony) lived a life which took him to the peak of musical success and then, fuelled by drugs and alcohol, to the depths of depression and despair. Seen from the perspective of his wife Puchi (Jennifer Lopez), this film tells the story of the man who redefined Latin music in the 1960s and '70s and brought a sense of identity to Puerto Rican communities across the United States.
