Jeremy Paxman presents this five-part documentary series exploring the British Empire. The programme investigates, among other topics, how a small country became so powerful, ruling over one quarter of the world's population, and how the British way of life has been adopted around the globe. The archetypal British hero is explored, as well as the country's keen interest in sport. Along the way Jeremy visits various locations, including India, Africa, Canada, China and Jamaica.
