British crime thriller in which an ex-gangster is accused of murder. Following his release from prison after a ten-year sentence for killing his boss Eugene McCann (P.H. Moriarty), former gangster Harry Payne (Tony Scannell) goes home to his wife Susan (Katy Manning), intent on leaving his violent past behind him. However, when a series of occult murders are committed Detective Inspector David Bracken (Graham Cole) believes Harry to be the prime suspect, while the locals are convinced the White Lady of Rayleton has returned. As Harry battles some personal demons he tries to identify the real killer in order to protect his wife and prove his innocence.
