First formed in a blaze in 1983 and scoring 3 Top Twenty singles in their first year The Style Council comprising permanent members Paul Weller Mick Talbot Dee C Lee and Steve White supported by others - did much to silence critics of Weller's decision to split The Jam. Their subsequent progress through 1984 to 1989 saw a more diverse style of music and songwriting with hits becoming more sporadic mainly whilst Paul exercised his political views more vocally through music.
