August 1926 in the pretty rural village of Waldron. One Monday morning 16-year old Esther Johnson kisses her mother goodbye and cycles off to work. She is never seen again. Her family are distraught and gossip circulates. She's been seen flirting with one of the Irish navvies working on the roads. Her Aunt Maud the villagers and even her younger sister Milly believe she has run off with him. But is that really what happened? The mystery is only solved decades later.
