Late 1940s British romantic drama. Farmer's son David Shields (Gordon Jackson) gets a job with a shipping company, despite his father's wish for him to carry on the family business. While progressing through the ranks at the shipyard, David falls for his boss's daughter, Mary Anstruther (Rona Anderson). He finds success in the business, designing a cutting edge vessel, but can he also find success in love?
