Documentary about cinema from the north of England, focusing on the Mancunian Film Studios. The company was founded by John E. Blakeley and originally based in London. In 1947 production studios were set up in Manchester in order to make films geared towards the humour of northern audiences. The programme features many comics including Frank Randle, George Formby, Jimmy Jewel and Arthur Askey.
