Enhanced director's cut of the sequel to the 1995 Japanese anime feature 'Ghost in the Shell'. In 2032, the boundaries between human and robot have started to break down, and cyborg alteration is the norm. Public Security Section 9 is the organisation responsible for policing this brave new world, and when cyborg detective Bato takes on a case of a female pleasure robot that brutally murdered its owner, he uncovers similar crimes taking place throughout the city, as robots, cyborgs, and even humans start to question what it really means to be alive.
