Gillan were a hugely successful hard rock band in the early eighties fronted by legendary Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan. Their career ran from 1979 to 1982 during which time they released 5 albums all of which charted Top 20 in the UK and had a string of successful singles. This concert was filmed as part of BBC’s “Rock Goes To College” series at Oxford Polytechnic on the 2nd February 1981 following their “Glory Road” album (which went to No.3) and just before the release of “Future Shock” (which went to No.2).
