Early 1950s British thriller adapted from the novel by Victor Canning. Archaeologist David Redfern (Trevor Howard) is sent to North Africa to retrieve invaluable relics but runs into trouble when he crosses paths with a gang of smugglers. At first reluctant to get involved, Redfern decides to take action against the crooks to protect the woman he has fallen for, French cafe owner Anna (Anouk Aimée).
