Alec Newman stars in this British drama about a blind army veteran living on a London council estate. When a compensation cheque finally arrives on Mal Walker (Newman)'s doorstep after he lost his sight while fighting in the British army, his plan to use the money to move to a nicer part of the city goes awry when his guide dog Quince runs away. As Mal frantically searches for Quince he realises that being grouchy and bitter has left him without any friends or even acquaintances willing to help him.
