Happy Feet/March Of The Penguins DVD

| DVD

Happy Feat: In the great nation of Emperor Penguins deep in Antarctica you're nobody unless you can sing-which is unfortunate for Mumble (Elijah Wood) who is the worst singer in the world. He is born dancing to his own tune...tap dancing. Though Mumble's mum Norma Jean (Nicole Kidman) thinks this little habit is cute his dad Memphis (Hugh Jackman) says it 'just ain't penguin.' Besides they both know that without a Heartsong Mumble may never find true love. As fate would have it his one friend Gloria (Brittany Murphy) happens to be the best singer around.... Mumble and Gloria have a connection from the moment they hatch but she struggles with his strange 'hippity- hoppity' ways. Mumble is just too different-especially for Noah the Elder (Hugo Weaving) the stern leader of Emperor Land who ultimately casts him out of the community. Away from home for the first time Mumble meets a posse of decidedly un-Emperor-like penguins-the Adelie Amigos. Led by Ramon (Robin Williams) the Adelies instantly embrace Mumble's cool dance moves and invite him to party with them. In Adelie Land Mumble seeks the counsel of Lovelace the Guru (also voiced by Robin Williams) a crazy-feathered Rockhopper penguin who will answer any of life's questions for the price of a pebble. Together with Lovelace and the Amigos Mumble sets out across vast landscapes and after some epic encounters proves that by being true to yourself you can make all the difference in the world. March Of The Penguins: Coming from a French director Luc Jacquet the Oscar-winning family documentary March Of The Penguins would have to be a love story. And it is in that it follows the mating rituals of the emperor penguin one of the most resilient animals on earth. Each summer after a nourishing period of deep-sea feeding the penguins pop up onto the ice and begin their procession across the frozen tundra of Antarctica. Walking in single file they are a sight to behold. Hundreds converge from every direction moving instinctively toward their mating ground. Once there they mingle and chatter until they find the perfect mate - a monogamous match that will last a year through the brutal winter and into the spring. During that time the mother will birth an egg and then leave for the ocean to feed again. The father will stay to protect the egg through the freezing blizzards and pure darkness of winter which would be deadly to practically any other species. Finally with spring the egg hatches and the baby penguins are born. Mothers return from the sea to reunite with their families and feed the starving newborns while the fathers are finally relieved of their protective duties after months without food. The film is remarkable in its story which is narrated by Morgan Freeman whose dignified voice gives the penguins the grave admiration they deserve. But even more incredible is its photography which shows the penguins hunting underwater slidi [show more]

Two popular penguin-related movies. 'Happy Feet' (2006) is an animated comedy featuring the voices of Robin Williams, Nicole Kidman and Elijah Wood. Emperor penguins have lived for centuries with one simple goal in life: to find their soul mates through their own unique heart song. Mumble (Wood), son of Memphis (Hugh Jackman) and Norma Jean (Kidman) is the worst singer in the world but he is a brilliant tap dancer. Unfortunately in Antarctica his toe-tapping talent is deemed peculiar and poor Mumble is branded an outcast by the Emperor Elders. and is even accused of causing the mysterious fish famine which is gripping the penguin community and threatening their way of life. Mumble decides to leave his family and goes on a journey to determine the real cause of the fish famine so he can prove his innocence. All adrift in a lonely hostile world, he meets The Amigos, a wise-cracking comedy crew of Latino Adelie penguins led by Ramon (Williams), who think Mumble's smooth dance moves are 'accidentally cool' and a great way to impress the chicas. The Amigos help him realise the importance of being true to oneself and that being unique is a good thing. Mumble uses courage, determination and, of course, his 'happy feet' to discover the truth, save Emperor Land and win the heart of his soul mate Gloria (Brittany Murphy). 'March of the Penguins' (2005) is a documentary which looks the lives of penguins in the Antarctic. Every March since the beginning of time, the quest begins for every penguin to find the perfect mate and start a family. This courtship will begin with a long journey - a journey that will take them hundreds of miles across the continent by foot, in freezing cold temperatures, in brittle, icy winds and through deep, treacherous waters. They will risk starvation and attack by dangerous predators, under the harshest conditions on earth, all to find true love.
