In colourful contrast to her stiff, usually celibate portrayal of the matron on camera, her private life saw her conducting an affair with a younger man behind her television star husband's back. The chequered romance is brought to life by Aidan Turner as the fresh-faced lover, and Robert Bathurst stars alongside as Jacques's husband, 'Dad's Army' actor, John Le Mesurier.
