Mother and daughter relationships are examined in this black comedy from writer/director Pedro Almodovar. A 1960s pop idol returns to Spain from Mexico to be reconciled with her daughter (Victoria Abril), now a successful newsreader married to her mother's ex-boyfriend. When the old flames meet, he wants to rekindle the romance but winds up dead. His wife confesses to his murder on television but the truth is a lot more complex.
