French comedy about a middle-aged bachelor trying to remain single despite the best efforts of his family. Confirmed bachelor Luis Costa (Alain Chabat), has a good life, and that's the way he likes it. A perfume designer, Luis is forty-something, footloose and fancy-free, dating who he wants, when he wants. Unfortunately for Luis, his mother and five sisters have other ideas. Tired of doing his laundry and cooking, they set him up with a series of eligible dates, all of which turn out so bad that Luis decides on a strategy to get his family off his back. If he could employ an 'ideal woman', capable of charming his family, to be his fiancee, she could dump him at the altar, his family would rally round in sympathy, and no one would dare to mention the 'M' word again. Luckily for Luis, his best friend's sister Emmanuelle (Charlotte Gainsbourg), needs some money...
Life is great for conformed bachelor Luis; he loves his job and indulges the pampering offered by his mother and five sisters... but they have other ideas and decide that the time has come for him to seek out a bride. In an attempt to foil his family's plans, Luis decides to find his perfect mate all by himself...
