Please note this is a region 2 DVD and will require a region 2 (Europe) or region Free DVD Player in order to play.  After the death of her beloved dog, Carol (Blythe Danner) finds the everyday activities that have given her life structure- her regular bridge game, gardening, a glass of wine or two- have lost their luster. With the support of three loyal girlfriends (June Squibb, Rhea Perlman, and Mary Kay Place), Carol decides to embrace the world, embarking on a an unlikely friendship with her pool maintenance man (Martin Starr), pursuing a new love interest (Sam Elliott), and reconnecting with her daughter (Malin Akerman). With friendship, love, and everything in-between, Carol discovers that life can begin anew at any age.

Comedy drama from film-maker Brett Haley. Blythe Danner stars as Carol, a retiree and widow feeling at a loss when she has to have her dog, her only companion, put down. With the encouragement of her old friends Georgina (June Squibb), Sally (Rhea Perlman) and Rona (Mary Kay Place), Carol decides to take up singing again. This passion for music also forms the basis of a new friendship for Carol with her pool cleaner Lloyd (Martin Starr). Meanwhile, romance could be on the cards with the appearance of Bill (Sam Elliott), but Carol must face her fears of commitment if she is to accept a new companion.
