When Katie (Whelan) moves to town with her young daughter in order to start a new life after enduring abuse in her past, she quickly befriends another mother, Angela, and her husband Brian (Cage). She is soon chosen by the couple to become their surrogate for their long-time desired child. Little does the unlucky couple know however, she is harbouring a dark secret about her past that may have fatal consequences for them and their child.

Gina Gershon and Nicolas Cage star in this Canadian drama directed by Jonathan Baker. The film follows young mother Katie (Nicky Whelan) as she moves to a new town with her daughter in an attempt to escape her abusive past. Soon after arriving she meets Angela (Gershon) and her husband Brian (Cage) who also have a daughter of a similar age. However, after accepting Katie into her home, Angela soon suspects there is something sinister going on as Katie's behaviour begins to change and her manipulative ways start to cause problems for her new family.
