Television drama directed by David Wickes and starring Michael Caine and Jane Seymour. It is 1888 and the East End of London is plagued by a vicious killer known as Jack the Ripper. Fear and outrage grow in the city as the victims of his brutality continue to be found. Chief Inspector Frederick Abberline (Caine) is assigned to the case and quickly discovers that there is more to the investigation than meets the eye. Abberline follows the trail of a conspiracy which leads all the way to the top of government. Supposedly based on top secret Home Office files, this drama purports to reveal the truth behind the grisly mystery of Jack the Ripper.
