James Bond is back in an adventure which is bigger better and more explosive than ever before. It's packed with incredible stunts glamorous locations beautiful women and fast cars! Bond has a dangerous new enemy to face in his deadly mission. Aided by the Russian underworld his treacherous foe has stolen a top-secret helicopter and the lethal Soviet space weapon GoldenEye with which he plans to obliterate the Western world. This uncut '15' certificate version of Goldeneye is available on DVD for the very first time!
The first movie seeing Pierce Brosnan as Bond. This is an action-packed entry into the franchise. I find that it is one of the most breath-taking opening sequences to date as we see James Bond bungee-jump off a dam - the music stops and the audience are left on the edge of their seats.
I think that Pierce Brosnan is brilliant as Bond, he's sharp, he handles situations correctly and delivers the one-liners perfectly with added irony.
Some other contributions that I feel need to be mentioned are from Sean Bean as the 006 agent Alec Trevelyan, this adds an interesting quality to the film as the chemistry changes from beginning to end between Bond and himself. At first they seem to be united and working together but we see Alec's more ruthless side during the middle segment of the film and this in turn shows us Bond's darker side:
Natalya Simonova is an interesting Bond girl because she seems less glamourous and has her "thinking-head" on at all times, she works with Bond to help in a lot of the situations - she is very driven to get what she wants. I personally think that she is one of my favourite Bond girls because I liked seeing someone who got involved with the action and was smart enough to accompany Bond all the way.
Xenia Onatopp was an evil henchwoman and she was equally as fiesty as the Bond girl, she was quite brutal with Bond and anyone associated and she had a passion for what she was doing. I also enjoyed the presence of Boris Grishenko he helps to make the parts of the movie more humourous.
Boris: "I am invincible!"
This is the first time we see Judi Dench as M and even though we don't see her a lot throughout the movie, I think she helps to bring the situation back to reality as she is portrayed as being a serious character.
Overall, I think this is a great first entry by Pierce Brosnan into the Bond franchise. The film keeps moving at a fast-pace, with Brosnan bringing his quick wit and natural charm - quite a change from the more serious tones of Dalton. A lot of memorable moments combined with stunning visual effects and impressive stunts.
An unbelievable price for a must-have Bond movie!
After all of us getting used to Timothy Dalton's style of Bond, Pierce Brosnan arrives. The action was terrific, reminding me a little bit of Pirates of the Carribean Dead Mans Chest and The Mummy. Izzabella Scorupco plays the new Bond girl. Bond faces evil from every angle. He must be careful Evil lurks in every corner. James Bond teams up with the Russian research center. Alec (Sean Bean) tries to kill Bond, so he can suceed with his plan. Also Bond must dodge Xenia Onnatop (Famke Janssen) who will do anything for a squeeze. Also starring Judi Dench, Joe Don Baker, Robbie Coltrane, Desmond Llewyn and directed by Martin Campbell. Watch this movie as it is a good one and you will never get tired of it.
