Viggo Mortensen stars in this Western drama directed and co-written by Lisandro Alonso. Set during the Conquest of the Desert, the story follows Gunnar Dinesen (Mortensen), a Danish engineer for the Argentine Army who is sent to survey the land, currently home to indigenous peoples, which is due to be taken over by European settlers. He brings his teenage daughter Ingeborg (Viilbjørk Malling Agger) along with him but she falls for and runs away with a young soldier, leaving Gunnar to journey through the hostile environment in search of her. Will he be reunited with his daughter?
